Norther Harbour wins A-Side in the Women's Division

In Kenora slo-pitch playoff action - On the women's side - Northern Harbour has done it again. They've taken top spot in the league after defeating the Royals in game two of a best-of-three last night. Northern Harbour also claimed the pennant for the least amount of losses in regular play. 

CUPE defeated Jarnel in two games straight to capture the C-side title. The B-side division is split one game apiece between Nensika Crushers and The Riverview Rebels, the 3rd and deciding game will take place at the Rec Center tonight .

On the men's side. Moncrief Diggers took game one 14-9 over Holmes Voodoo on the B Side. Solid pitching by Michael Stokes, great fielding by the Diggers and a home run by Mark Splett contributed to the win.  Cottage time beavers won 14-12 against legends on the C Side

St Thomas Aquinas attended their first athletic event of the season for high school Golf which was held at the Kenora Golf and Country Club. The T.A Boys team finished 2nd overall with a combined score of 352, Fort Frances finished first with a score of 346. Individual play saw Jaxon Savage and Carter Peters tied for 2nd overall shooting an 86. Next League play will be Thursday, September 22 when the Saints travel to Sioux Lookout.

Hockey Canada informed the federal government in 2019 about its National Equity Fund as it prepared to face a ``significant potential claim.'' The fund is mentioned in a three-page email to the Sport Minister's office, in which Hockey Canada asks Ottawa if it could self-govern its safe-sport cases. Hockey Canada used the reserve fund for uninsured liabilities, which until recently included settling sexual abuse claims.

The Toronto Blue Jays will take on the Tampa Bay Rays in the fourth of a five-game series tonight. Toronto fell 4-2 in the opener of yesterday's doubleheader before rebounding with a 7-2 victory in the night game. The Blue Jays will have Ross Stripling take the mound, as the Rays counter with Drew Rasmussen.
