On Saturday, September 17, 2022, Sharon Gail Lajeunesse-Sutcliffe (Mammy), a beloved sister, wife, mother and grandmother, passed away suddenly at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital with her family by her side at the age of sixty-three years old.
She is survived by her devoted, loving husband, Bruce Sutcliffe, her children David Thorgrimson (Tabatha) and Theresa Thomson (Kevin), and her two beautiful grandchildren, whom she deeply loved, Issebella Carlson and Douglas Thomson. Brothers and sisters, Richard Lajeunesse, Agnes Kolisnik (Randy), Lloyd Lajeunesse, Carol Favreau (Jim), Joe Lajeunesse. Sister-in-law Audrey Jones (David) of Vernon, B.C. Nieces and nephews Lisa Derouard (Mike), Mike Kolisnik, Danielle Mineault (Brodie McGowan), Renae Coones (Adam), Richard Favreau, Ryan Lajeunesse, Tyler McGeachy, Lana Ruhl, Lisa Brough, Ronnie Brough and families. Great nieces and nephews Katlynn Derouard, Jaylynn Derouard, Karson Kolisnik, Oliver Wlodarek, Amelia Wlodarek, Jordan McGowan and Carter McGowan.
Sharon was predeceased by her mother Maggie (Beaver) Lajeunesse, Joseph Lajeunesse, Mother and Father-in-law Pearl and Ken Sutcliffe, Brother Ken Lajeunesse, Sister Marion Lajeunesse, Sister-in-laws Sharon and Heather Sutcliffe along with many aunts and uncles.
Mammy was born at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital on July 7, 1959. She spent a lot of her years in Kenora before moving to Thunder Bay and British Columbia. She spent some beautiful years in the Okanagan Valley, in the City of Vernon, with the Sutcliffe family before returning to the place she always called home, Kenora. Sharon loved her friends and family and was always the life of the party. She spent time camping at many different places around Kenora, always scouting for the next adventure. She spent some amazing time at Medicine Lake, where all her friends and family would come to spend a few hours, a night or a whole week with her and Bruce. Sharon loved her friends, family and puppy Keai more than life itself; she dedicated herself to making everyone around her smile and would give anyone the shirt off her back if it meant lending a helping hand. Once you met Sharon, it didn’t take long to develop a bond with her that you carried throughout your life. She never judged a book by its cover and always made you feel like you were special to her. Despite her health issues, Mammy’s strength was a story to be told; she was always able to persevere and help in any way possible. She never let anything stop her from looking out for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed, always loved and never forgotten. She will be carried in our hearts forever.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 10:30 am at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre with Deacon Earl Johnson officiating, burial to follow at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery.
