The Kenora and Lake of the Woods Community Foundation is welcoming Mr. Mustafa Karim to the region as their new Executive Director.

“What attracted me to KLWCF was its grant-making charitable nature,” says Karim. “I’m very excited about being able to play a modest role in harnessing the generous contributions of individuals, families, and businesses to support effective non-profits addressing the myriad needs of those residing in Kenora and surrounding community.”

Karim brings 14 years of experience with Canadian and global humanitarian non-profit work, with a Master’s Degree from Stanford University. Karim, of Mumbai, India says he’s looking forward to northwestern Ontario’s weather, after living in the Pamir Region of Tajikistan for five years.

“With this appointment, we’d like to say thank you to the outgoing Executive Director, Tara Douglas who brought tremendous positivity and skills to the position during her time with KLWCF,” wrote Board President, Shannon Robinson.

“We are so pleased that Tara will continue to support the Foundation in a volunteer capacity as lead chair for the Festival of Trees which returns in December of 2022,” adds Robinson.

The KLWCF has distributed over $3 million in grants to 69 local charities since its creation in 2005.
