A week ago today (Saturday) was the first day that passengers on airlines were not required to wear masks and comply with other COVID-related restrictions in Canada. Following two years of the pandemic-ridden requirements, many are glad the masks are no longer necessary.

Felipe and Roberta Ribeiro flew into Winnipeg with their baby from Toronto on October 1 for a short visit. Felipe says people aren't using masks practically anywhere else for the last while, anyway.

"I think it's better to not need to use it now during fights," says Felipe. "I think it's sort of coming back to our normality, if I can say. It looks like it."

Roberta notes it's certainly better with their baby during trips like this.

"Every time I breastfeed him, he just pulls off my mask, so now it's easier," notes Roberta.

Felipe acknowledges that COVID is not going to go away anytime soon, and the world needs to get back to normal as much as possible.

"We need to move forward, right?" notes Felipe. "I mean, it's been three years now. We've been just using masks at airports and transportation."
