We woke up Friday morning to the first widespread, killing frost of the season. Right across Southern Manitoba, temperatures dipped well below freezing for several hours ending the growing season for farmers and gardeners alike. An area of high pressure over the region kept the sky clear and winds light, the perfect combination to bring about a frosty morning.

"We’ve been saying it all week, the chilly temps won’t be sticking around, as a westerly flow returns today helping warm things up as we head into Thanksgiving Long Weekend," said CMOS Accredited Weathercaster Chris Sumner with a smile. "High pressure, and an upper ridge in the atmosphere, keeping it sunny today right through Monday, and also helping keep temperatures above average for the most part."

Average daytime highs for this time of year are around 13, with overnight lows about +2.

"Today highs between 10 and 12, will give way to temperatures in the 15 to 19 range for the weekend," said Sumner "Thanksgiving Monday is looking potentially the warmest, possibly flirting with 20, as a strong southerly flow pumps into the region really warm air for this time of year."

Those borderline early Summer temps are expected to last through Tuesday before a cold front sweeps through, and knocks the region back to seasonal for the remainder of next week.

"And as farmers continue to push through harvest, good news for them… it’s looking like the dry stretch we’ve been in will continue through the weekend meaning lots of bushels in the bin, and hopefully not much drying," added Sumner.
