A 29-year-old Morden man is facing charges after a hit and run incident in Winkler September 18th.

Winkler Police and paramedics responded that afternoon around 2:35 p.m. to the corner of Townsend Drive and Roblin Boulevard.

The investigation revealed a 3-year-old girl riding a scooter had left the sidewalk on Roblin to cross the street at the intersection, and was struck by a green Subaru Forester that made what appeared to be an unexpected left turn onto Townsend Drive from Roblin.

The driver fled the scene after the collision, without slowing down or stopping. Meanwhile, a witness immediately started caring for the child, who was unresponsive at the time.

Paramedics transported the child to Boundary Trails Health Centre with several non-life-threatening upper body injuries.

After further investigation, police were able to identify and arrest the suspect in this incident who has now been charged with failing to stop after a collision causing bodily harm, and failing to comply with the conditions of an Undertaking.

The man was released on an undertaking, with a court in November in Morden Provincial Court.
