Two Cochrane high school soccer teams are set to play in the Rocky View semifinals next Tuesday after the Bow Valley Bobcats won their quarterfinal game against the W. H. Croxford Cavaliers, 1-0, on Oct. 13.

Bobcat Brooke Miller scored the lone goal about 10 minutes into the first half.

Bobcats coach Matt Baugh says the team has improved as the season advanced. With only three grade 12s on their roster, they have plenty of emerging talent on their 20-player roster.

The Bobcats and Cavaliers have met twice before this season.

"They beat us once and we beat them once, and this one was close. The girls are great. They're working hard, getting better all the time, and they're fun to work with."

The Bobcats head to Springbank on Oct. 18 to play the Phoenix, who are the number one team in the regular season with a perfect 5-0 record.

Finishing second with a 4-1 record, the Cochrane Cobras are hosting the other semifinal matchup on Rangers Field against the Bert Church Chargers, also on Oct. 18. The Chargers beat the George McDougall Mustangs, 4-2, to advance.

The finals are in Airdrie on Thursday at Monklands Field. The winners of the semifinal matches play for gold, and the losing teams play for bronze.
