There is an ebb and flow to high school football.
Seasons come and go and players change as they graduate after a few years. But, in the Rocky View High School Football League, there is one thing that remains constant.
The Cochrane Cobras are a really, really good team.
Cochrane proved that again this weekend by beating another very good team, the W.H. Croxford Cavaliers 28 - 16 Friday night (October 14) at Spray Lakes Field. With the win, the Cobras finish another perfect RVS regular season with a 6-0 mark. The Cavs also went into the game unbeaten on the year and finish with a 5-1 record heading into the playoffs. The schedule for those hasn't been released yet.
The Cobras have won the Provincial High School Tier III championship a remarkable seven years in a row. This year, Cochrane made the decision to move up to the Tier I division, to test themselves against much larger schools.
In another Friday game, the George McDougall Mustangs downed the Bert Church Chargers 51 - 10 to claim their fourth win of the season against just two losses with those coming at the hands of the Cavaliers and the Cobras. The loss drops the Chargers' record to 2-4.
