Cecilia Lopinski
July 11, 1937 – October 19, 2022
Cecilia (nee Greve) Lopinski passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Villa in Humboldt on Wednesday, October 19, 2022. She was 85 years of age. Cecilia was born to Ignatz and Theresa (nee Kenkel) Greve on July 11, 1937, in Muenster, where she was raised. She married Leo Lopinski on October 28, 1958. Cecilia was an avid baker, gardener and enjoyed artistic endeavours, including crochet and ceramics. She farmed together with Leo at the family farm near Cudworth, as well volunteered in the early years of Humboldt’s Volunteer Fire Department, coordinating many social events with Leo. Together they enjoyed taking their family camping, and in their retirement years they travelled to the east coast and the USA. A dedicated wife and loving mother, despite health challenges over her lifetime, courageously battling cancer at 23, osteoarthritis, many surgeries and in her final years Alzheimer’s.
She is survived by her husband, Leo Lopinski; their five children and seven grandchildren: Phil (Patti) Lopinski and family Leanne (Brian), and Kurtis (Amy); Maryann (David) Deutscher and family, Carlene (Jordy), and Bob (Shannon), Laureen (Wayne) King and son Garrett; Rita (Alex) Wasylyniuk; James (Leah) Lopinski and family, Jeff and Robyn; and by six cherished great-grandchildren: Payton, Aabryella, Holden, Leighton, Luca and Anna. She was predeceased by her grandson, Landon King.
The Catholic Celebration of Life was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Fr. John Ezeoruonye. Interment followed at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorial donations may be directed to the St. Mary’s Villa Foundation (P.O.
