The communities of St. Claude and Notre Dame will notice some new faces in their clinics.
Dr. Samreen Rizwan is originally from Pakistan and moved to Canada in 2011. She obtained her Canadian credentials, completed a medical Masters from Queen's University in Ontario, and did her residency at the University of Manitoba. She moved to our province along with her husband, Rizwan Ahmed, who works for Southern Health-Santé-Sud as Regional Director of Pharmacy.
"It's nice! I like it so far," says Dr. Rizwan. "People are really nice. They know you really well, so I like that part. I just moved to Winnipeg, and before that, we were living in the Winkler/Morden area. So, I'm kind of used to living in a rural area, so that's nice."
Dr. Rizwan will serve as a family physician in St. Claude and an emergency room physician in Notre Dame. When asked what she liked most about this new area, she immediately pointed to her colleagues, her patients, and the community as a whole.
"I just like this closeness to the people," says Dr. Rizwan. "In the area, I haven't had a chance to look around. I just started in September. I'm still new to the area. I can say that I really enjoy working here and it's a great experience for me."
