Alvin Joseph Stumborg
May 15, 1929 – November 15, 2022

Alvin Joseph Stumborg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. He was 93 years of age. Born on May 15, 1929, to Harry and Mary (née Kramer) Stumborg on the family farm near Bruno, SK, Alvin was the 8th of 10 children. At a barn dance in Bruno, he met Agnes Hessdorfer. They were married at Old St. Benedict Church on October 20, 1952, and they would spend the next 70 years together, raising a family of seven. In the 1950’s, they bought land four miles west and two miles south of Naicam, SK, which they farmed until the mid-70’s. In their early years, they spent winters in Edmonton, Alberta, where Alvin worked for his father and brothers at their taxi company. They moved the family from the farm to Humboldt in 1962 and continued to farm from there. After retiring from farming, Alvin worked for Humboldt Housing Authority in Maintenance of the low rental housing. During the early 80’s, Alvin became involved in private land development until fully retiring. He was very involved in his faith and church. An active Knights of Columbus member for many years, Alvin ushered in church in his suit every Sunday. While in his 80’s, he began singing in the choir and fully enjoyed being part of the group. Active in his community, he served as President of Humboldt Minor Hockey, and volunteered at church and community events and could always be counted on to help. Some of his pastimes included: camping, hunting, fishing, a bit of travelling, Broncos games, singing, dancing and hosting gatherings, which were his absolute joys in life, along with his family. Alvin will be lovingly remembered and is survived by his wife of 70 years, Agnes; and four of his seven children and their families: Gwen (Kevin) Stuckel, Renee (Trevor), Kristen Kunz (Jeff), Bailey (Colton), Darcie (Joel), and Leah, Ryan (Jennifer) Konnor, Kayson and Aubrey, Jean (Jim) Roth, Arron and Chad, Cec (Jane) Stumborg, Lambert (Linda) Stumborg, Branden and Logan, Marianne’s boys: Blair (Jennifer) Wourms, Mitchell (Michelle) Wourms, Olivia and Bryson, Keith’s boys: David (Stephanie) Stumborg, and Emmy, Arlene’s boys: Merit (Jodi) Meyer, and Theo, Dylan (Brittney) Meyer + little one; sons-in-law Lynn (Pat) Wourms, and Gary (Shareen) Meyer, and Kaylee; and sister Julie Gibb.
