It’s a busy weekend on the ice in the SIJHL. Tonight, the Sioux Lookout Bombers will be taking on the Fighting Walleye in the first of a back-to-back in Kam River.

The Dryden GM Ice Dogs have the night off before the Thunder Bay North Stars come to town tomorrow night. The Bombers are up against the North Stars on Wednesday.

The TA Saints Boys’ volleyball team is on a roll at OFSAA, going 2 and 0 against the top 2 teams in their pool yesterday in Sudbury. The Girls’ basketball team lost their game against the #5 seed and hopes to rebound today in Walkerton.

Toronto Maple Leafs great and Hall of Fame defenceman Borje Salming has died at 71, as confirmed by the Leafs yesterday. He had ALS, known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

Salming joined the Leafs in 1973 and spent 16 seasons with the club. He is known as a trailblazer who opened the door for a wave of European stars in the NHL.

Hockey returns from a day off with a busy 13-game schedule.

Tonight it's a Central Division showdown in Texas between the Winnipeg Jets and the Dallas Stars. Winnipeg enters the game four points behind the division-leading Stars with two fewer games played. Stars winger Jason Robertson has 14 goals and 10 assists over a 13-game point streak.

Elsewhere, Toronto heads to Minnesota to face the Wild, Calgary will be in Washington to play the Capitals, Montreal takes on the Blackhawks in the Windy City and Ottawa goes head-to-head against the Ducks in Anaheim.
