Madge Myers

Madge Myers was born in Saskatoon living with her parents, grandparents and sister.

After high school she was employed by the then Saskatchewan Government Telephones first as switchboard and later as information. She was a supervisor prior to early retirement from SaskTel and we can assume by knowing her she was kind and diplomatic to her staff.

She was a long-time lover of animals, especially cats, her first being a large white fluffy and very deaf cat named Tammy. She spent her evenings for many years doing sight defying cross stitch, which she herself matted and framed, and knitted countless sweaters and cat nip toys.

In the 60’s she went square dancing, and she wore a wig for style though she had beautiful hair.

In the 70’s she bought her first car, a red pacer. With each of her homes she lived in, they reflected her passions and were always proudly maintained, upgraded, and decorated.

In 1978 Madge and Gwen enjoyed a special trip to England to visit with relatives only known through letter writing by her grandma. One letter writing cousin was named Madge whom our Madge was named after.

The first part of her early retirement from SaskTel was spent assisting her sister with her illnesses. Her energy then turned to assisting her mom with her concerns. She later moved to Lanigan where she purchased her sweet home and lived with her fur babies. She loved her church, her Lord, her home, her volunteering, and meeting perspective new friends.

She was a sister, an aunt, cousin and friend and to her delight she was also a grandma.

She was predeceased by parents: Carl and Gwen; sister, Ethel; and many kitties that awaited her at the Rainbow Bridge. She leaves to celebrate her beautiful spirit: brother; Terry (Sherry); two nieces: Emery and Madison; cousin, Anna (Gerry); special companion in care and friendship, Sara; good friends: Linda and Diane; and other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. from Knox United Church, Lanigan with Rev. Frances Kitson officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery Saskatoon. Memorial donations in Madge’s memory may be directed to Country Care Saskatchewan.

Perfect peace and wholeness be with Madge.
