Moose Jaw's newest Christmas tradition is taking place December 9 and 10.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be hosting a Festival of Nativities - A Celebration of Christ on December 9 from 5 pm - 8:30 pm and again on December 10 from noon until 5:30 pm.
The event will feature musical performances, crafts for the kids, and a nativity scene with live actors
Elder Bob Berglind is a volunteer with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
"This time of year to Christians is the birth of Christ, which is special in and of itself," he said. "Sometimes people get caught up in lots of other Christmas traditions but this is an opportunity to celebrate Christ during this time of year. We just felt that it's a great opportunity for the citizens of Moose Jaw to be able to enjoy that tradition."
The Festival of Nativities will be held indoors at 15 Westpark Boulevard NW.
"There's such a variety of nativity sets that it's nice to be able to see them," added Berglind. "I know in my travels in various parts of the country at different times I've had a chance to go to these celebrations before and it's amazing what sort of imaginative creations are out there that carry the same message but you just feel the spirit in a totally different way."
Those attending are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to support the Moose Jaw Food Bank.
