“We’re excited about what Moose Jaw does and we’re looking forward to the next three days; Come out and support!”

The 8th Annual Toy Days presented by 800 CHAB, Country 100 and MIX 103 in support of the Salvation Army is taking place from now until Saturday night at Canadian Tire.

Toy Days is a stressful, yet beyond magical time for Lt. Lester Ward, the Pastor and Director of Community and Family Services for the Salvation Army.

“It’s a busy season, [but] a very magical season. We’re excited for the next three days to be a part of this toy drive at Canadian Tire... Last year we served 312 children toys for Christmas that probably would have gone otherwise without.”

Once the fundraiser is over, the toys are set up in the Salvation Army Church.

“The toy shop allows the [parent or guardian] to come and select the toy from the shop at no cost. It’s been donated by the generosity of the folks of Moose Jaw, of course... But because it’s Santas shop, and the elves are at work, we prefer the mom or dad to come alone, because it’s a busy spot, and we want to make sure that the elves and Santa can get things ready for [the kids].”

The Salvation Army is still looking for volunteers for their Kettle Campaign, as well.

“We have eight kettle locations throughout the city this year. There is a great need for volunteers, and we would love people to come alongside. The money that we collect from this Kettle Campaign, and the Kettle Campaign every year, stays in the city. It goes to support meeting the needs of people in the city... There is a great need for volunteers, so come on out!”

Anyone interested in volunteering can connect with the Salvation Army offices downtown at 306-692-5899

“All throughout the year, there’s always great needs within the city. Christmas just seems to be one that stands out to everyone. There’s not a day of the week that goes by where we’re not able to share hope and love within the city. So, any money that we receive in finances and giving, is not just [for] the Christmas season, it also goes towards the 12 months of the year, and every day of the year that those needs arise.”

Mix 103, 800 CHAB, and Country 100 will be live on location throughout the three days to share stories and get the community involved in this year’s Toy Days.
