Sonya Cowley-Smith, a resident of Whitefish Bay First Nation passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
She was predeceased by her common-law spouse Beaver Cowley, her uncle Jonathon Cowley and her grandmother Susan Cowley.
She is survived by her children Brysm, Tianna, Caylee and Bravyn, father Stewart Smith, Merritt (Duane M) Cowley, uncles Timothy (Karen) and Jay, her sisters Melissa Cowley, Shauna Cowley, her brother Matthew Cowley-Smith, auntie Roberta Crow, cousins Willow, Sunshine, Colt and Brooks. She will be greatly missed by her best friends Rosetta Skead, Cody Cowley and Kylee.
The family would like to thank the Lake of the Woods Hospital ICU and Palliative Care Unit.
Wake service will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 beginning at 1:00pm at the Peshigoneb Cultural Centre. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 11:00am at the Peshigoneb Cultural Centre with burial to follow in Whitefish Bay.
