The Portage Terriers are hitting the road today as they travel to Winkler for a battle with the Flyers. The last time these two teams met was back in September in what was the Terriers' lowest-scoring game of the season as they came out with a 2-1 victory.

The Dogs are looking to get back in the win column tonight after suffering a hard-fought loss at home on Wednesday night in a shootout against the Dauphin Kings.

Portage is averaging over five goals per game in December, however, they will need to bring their A-game to Winkler if they want to keep up that pace. The Flyers have one of the best goalie tandems in the MJHL, with Aidan Comeau having the best goals-against-average in the league (1.81) and Malachi Klassen coming in fourth (2.35). The Flyers haven't allowed a team to score more than three goals since November 2nd.

The Terriers' biggest advantage may come on special teams. Winkler is in the bottom five in the league when it comes to both the power-play and penalty-kill, while Portage is in the top two in both areas. These are also the two most penalized teams in the league.

Matt Wisener has gotten into a rhythm for the Terriers in December. The forward has goals in three straight games and has seven points in those contests. Wisener is third on the team in points this season with 27.

Both of these squads are tied for the second-best record in the MJHL with 42 points but the Terriers have two extra games to play.

The Terriers and Flyers will faceoff tonight in Winkler at 7:00. You can listen to the game live on CFRY.
