The Dryden GM Ice Dogs and Sioux Lookout Bombers are back from the holiday break.

The Ice Dogs will host the Thunder Bay North Stars, while the Bombers welcome the Fort Frances Lakers. Puck drop tonight for both games is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Kenora Under 18 AAA Thistles are also back on the ice this weekend after a lengthy holiday break.

They'll play host to a doubleheader against the Yellowhead Chiefs at the Kenora Recreation Centre tomorrow and Sunday. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, while Sunday will see a 1:30 p.m. matinee game.

Canada claimed its second straight world junior gold last night with a 3-2 overtime win over Czechia in Halifax.

Dylan Guenther scored his second of the game just over six minutes into the extra period to give Canada the win. Connor Bedard was named tournament MVP after a performance for the history books, with 23 points in seven games.

The surging Winnipeg Jets entertain the Tampa Bay Lightning in one of six games on the ice tonight in the NHL. The Jets have won three straight games and forward Kyle Connor is on a roll with five goals and nine assists over his past 10 games.

Also tonight, the Calgary Flames, who are coming off a 3-2 loss to Winnipeg, host the New York Islanders.

The agent for Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin says the player is breathing on his own and able to talk after having his breathing tube removed. It comes four days after he went into cardiac arrest and was resuscitated on the field.

The 24-year-old was in critical condition in the intensive care unit of the University of Cincinnati Medical Center on Thursday.
