Karen Edna Parker
July 23, 1952 – January 9, 2023

It is with profound sadness that the family of Karen Edna Parker of St. Benedict, SK, announces her death at Cudworth Nursing Home, Cudworth, SK, on Monday, January 9, 2023. She was 70 years of age. Karen was born on July 23, 1952, to Ronald and Caroline (nee Renneberg) Parker at Cudworth. She attended Cudworth School and the Ursuline Academy in Bruno, then completed her education at Saskatoon Business College. Karen’s interest in horticulture blossomed into a professional career which she continued throughout her life. She was blessed with three children and three grandchildren. Her hobbies included camping, fishing, golfing, and travelling. She especially loved spending time with family and friends. Karen worked hard and played hard. Her energy and zest for life was contagious and will be missed by all. Karen will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her partner, Brian York of Tisdale, SK; her son, Kelly (Tammy) Nyuli of St. Benedict, SK; two daughters: Tracy (Frank) Carpentieri, and Sarah (Lorre) Ethier, all of St. Benedict, SK; three grandchildren: Juliet Carpentieri, and Avery and Alexandre Ethier; six siblings: David (Cindy) Parker of Ridgedale, SK, Russell Parker of Millet, AB; Melvin (Jean) Parker of Wakaw, SK; Charlotte (Daniel) Bauman, Doug (Shelley) Parker, and Vern Parker, all of St. Benedict, SK; mother-in-law, Betty York; sisters-in-law, Lois Charles, and Linda York; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Ronald and Caroline (nee Renneberg) Parker; her brother, Patrick Parker (in infancy); and by her brother-in-law, Jim York. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, St. Benedict, SK, on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Pius Schroh. Others taking part were: Frank Carpentieri, crossbearer; Frank Carpentieri and Travis Bauman, scripture readers; Erin Barber, intentions; Shawna Bauman and Lori Babcock, giftbearers; Keith and Brenda Bessette, eulogists; and Theresa Chipeur, music ministry. Honorary pallbearers were “all those who shared in Karen’s life”. Active pallbearers were David Parker, Doug Parker, Russell Parker, Vern Parker, Melvin Parker, and Daniel Bauman. Interment followed at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to either the Cudworth Nursing Home (PO Box 190, Cudworth, SK, S0K 1B0) or Rosthern Mennonite Nursing Home (PO Box 370, Rosthern, SK, S0K 3R0).
