Russel RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter earlier this month which led to the discovery of a lot of no good.
Russell RCMP say they received a report of a break and enter in progress at a residence located on Main Street in Rossburn on February 3rd.
Police share they were advised that two subjects were first heard outside when one of them forcefully broke into the home. The homeowner contacted the police, and the suspects fled on foot. No injuries were reported.
The RCMP explains that patrols were then made in the area, which resulted in the arrest of a 32-year-old man from Winnipeg. He was found nearby stating he was with the another suspect and they were attempting to seek shelter from the cold as it was observed he was not dressed appropriately for the weather.
A further search of the area, with the assistance of Police Dog Services (PDS), failed to locate the second suspect. The 32-year-old, believed to be under the influence of drugs, was lodged in cells overnight and released the following morning without charge.
On following day, February 4th, as the investigation continued, information was received that led to the drafting of a search warrant for a residence located on Crocus Road in Rossburn.
The execution of the search warrant led to the discovery and seizure of approximately 188 grams of cocaine, 732 grams of methamphetamine, two loaded restricted firearms, ammunition, cell phones and other drug-related paraphernalia.
Officers arrested a 23-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man on the scene, both from Winnipeg. Both were taken into police custody and later released for court scheduled May 23rd in Rossburn.
