The board of Mennonite Collegiate Institute (MCI) in Gretna has appointed Jennifer Klippenstein as Interim Principal and Head of School.

The Altona resident has been an educator for over 20 years, with the last two spent teaching at MCI. During her career, she has worked with students at a variety of age levels and has been involved extensively in community sports.

Klippenstein’s connections to the Anabaptist Christian high school run deep. Her great-great-great grandfather (Elder Johann Funk) was a bishop in the Altona Bergthaler Church and a strong supporter of education who encouraged the establishment of MCI. Her children are MCI alumni.

Possessing a passion for building relationships at every level, Klippenstein says she is excited about enhancing the learning, service, and community-building opportunities for young people at MCI.

Her appointment took effect on January 1, 2023, and continues till the end of the current school year.

MCI is the longest-serving of some thirty Mennonite schools in Canada today.
