Helen Mathilda Rabner
March 9, 1930 – February 17, 2023
It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Helen Mathilda Rabner, 92 years, at Mennonite Nursing Home, Rosthern, on Friday, February 17, 2023, with family by her side.
Helen was born March 9, 1930 in the Fulda district to Alois and Theresa (nee Fleischhacker) Bittman. She grew up on the farm in the Fulda area and attended the local school. She worked with her dad on the family farm. Helen met Wilfred Rabner and they were married July 8, 1952. They farmed in the Fulda area where they worked right alongside each other. They retired from farming in 1985, but remained living on the farm until they built a new house in Humboldt, and moved into it in October 1993. After retiring, they enjoyed travelling to many destinations, including BC, Jamaica, Germany, Hawaii, Arizona, California, and Las Vegas. They also enjoyed dancing, camping, and fishing. Helen also enjoyed sewing, and gardening. In October 2020, Helen and Wilfred moved to Bethany Pioneer Village in Middle Lake. She moved to Rosthern Mennonite Nursing Home in June 2022 to be closer to her family.
Helen will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her two daughters, three grandsons and great granddaughter: Colleen (Kevin) Jenkins of Martensville and their family Michael (Tamie) Jenkins and daughter Kelsea of Warman, and Shawn (Raquel) Jenkins of Saskatoon; and Carol Rabner of Saskatoon and her son Eric (Ayla) Rabner of Saskatoon. She was predeceased by her husband Wilfred, parents Alois and Theresa Bittman, sisters Verena Bittman and Mildred (George) Hirsch.
A Private Graveside Service will be held at a later date at the St. Augustine Roman Catholic Columbarium for Wilfred and Helen. Memorial donations in Helen’s memory may be directed to Rosthern Mennonite Nursing Home (Box 370, Rosthern, SK, S0K 3R0) or ALS Society of Saskatchewan (2430-8th Avenue, Unit C, Regina, SK, S4R 5E3).
