Dazza Mitchell made 28 saves to record his first-ever SJHL shutout, and Mi-Kwan Tallman scored his first goal since returning to the lineup as the Richardson Pioneer skated to a 2-0 win over the Kindersley Klippers Sunday.

With the win, the Red Wings now have a magic number of just one to secure a playoff spot, and remain four points back of the Nipawin Hawks for 7th place, with one game in hand.

Tallman got the game started just 1:28 in, as he scored his 7th of the season. He was assisted on the tally by Jakob Kalin and Nolan Henderson. The only other goal of the game came in the 2nd period when Matteo Turrin netted his 6th, assisted by Tallman and Blake Norris.

Mitchell was kept busy between the pipes for the Red Wings, as he faced 12 shots in the 1st period and 11 in the 2nd. The defence of the Red Wings stepped up in the third to help preserve the shutout, as they only allowed the Klippers to get five shots on goal during the final period.

It will be a busy week with just three games left in the regular season for the Red Wings. Wednesday night they travel to Humboldt to take on the Broncos, then Thursday they host the Notre Dame Hounds. The regular season wraps up on Saturday with a game against the Estevan Bruins. Between those events, the Wings will also hold their year-end award banquet and comedy night on Friday.
