Chella Ward (née Barott) Stuckel
May 8, 1954 – March 20, 2023

Chella Ward Stuckel, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on March 20, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love. Her gentle spirit and capacity for unconditional love touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.

Born on May 8, 1954, in Montreal, Québèc, Chella was adopted by Temple (Peter) Murray and Gwendolyn Mae Barott. A gifted student, she graduated high school at 15 and attended Neuchâtel Junior College in Switzerland. Chella met her husband, Richard (Dick) Stuckel, while working at the Bank of Montreal in Calgary, where they married on July 3, 1976. Later, she became an Insurance Broker in Lake Lenore, where she worked until her retirement in 2009.

Chella’s passion was her family, and she devoted her life to creating a warm and loving home for her children and grandchildren. Her hugs and kisses, filled with warmth and tenderness, will be sorely missed. Chella’s strength, perseverance, and kindness served as an inspiration to everyone she encountered, illuminating the world around her.

Tragedy struck early in Chella’s family life with the heartbreaking and sudden loss of her cherished father at the age of 10 and then her mother at 36, and the devastating loss of her son, Peter, who passed away at the age of 7 from leukemia. In the face of such heartache, Chella brought comfort and reassurance to her children, Bradley and Cassie, by sharing her belief that Peter was chosen by God to be an angel, helping others in their times of need. Her unwavering faith and resilience in the face of adversity were nothing short of magical.

Chella’s love for her family extended to her favorite pastime: scrapbooking. She took great joy in documenting the lives of her loved ones, capturing memories and preserving them in her beautiful, creative scrapbooks. Each page was a testament to the love and care she poured into her family, weaving together a tapestry of cherished moments.

Chella is survived by her loving husband, Richard (Dick) Stuckel; her children, Bradley and Cassie (Jeff Koroll); her cherished grandchildren, Jayden, Talia, and Dylan; her brother, Patrick Barott (Leslie); and a large extended family, including in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a community of friends who will forever remember her for her boundless love, strength, and the unforgettable memories she preserved throughout her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House in her memory, honoring her love for her children and her dedication to family. As we remember Chella, let us cherish the gift of her love, the wisdom she shared, and the beautiful example she set for all, holding our loved ones close and never taking a single moment for granted.

The Funeral Mass for Chella was offered on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, in Lake Lenore, SK, celebrated by Fr. Prosper Abotsi.
