A ray of light in times of darkness is proving to be true for the Weyburn Lighthouse Church. Last fall, the church began a 24-hour, toll-free confidential prayer line, the phone line is the most active during the early morning hours.
“Most of the calls received are in the middle of the night and that’s when a lot of people struggle the most,” shared Susan Adderley, a member of the Lighthouse Church.
However, some callers seem a little apprehensive or maybe a little shy to stay on the line.
“We've had some people that will hang up and I just want to say to you, if you were the one that called in and you hung up, call back. If you need help, we're there for you, that is why we have this prayer line, do not be ashamed, do not be shy, we are here to help you, call back.”
Adderley also shared that the prayer line has now reached out of province, recently a lady from Manitoba called the line.
“We want to thank everyone for sharing the prayer line, let's see how far this can go,” said Adderley.
The prayer line is managed by volunteers, if someone does not pick up the call immediately, please leave a message and your call will be returned. The toll-free confidential prayer line number is 1(855)777-2005.
