The RCMP has arrested two women following an investigation regarding a stolen vehicle from Portage.
Police say that on April 3rd, at approximately 8:50 p.m., Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle from a parking lot on Saskatchewan Avenue West.
The vehicle's licence plate was shared with surrounding detachments, and patrols were made.
As word got out about the vehicle, Brandon RCMP located it on Highway 1, travelling at a high rate of speed.
An officer initiated a traffic stop with the suspect vehicle near Carberry, and two women were arrested without incident.
Officers reportedly recovered a knife and stolen items, including a cellphone and wallet.
The driver, Jessica Levasseur, 24, of Brandon, had two outstanding arrest warrants. She has also been charged with Theft, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Failing to Comply.
A 26-year-old woman was also charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and was released with an upcoming court date.
