Water flowing from the Pembina Escarpment is expected to start hitting drains in the RM of Stanley as soon as today.

The face of the escarpment is melting quickly with the longer days and warming temperatures.

In a statement emailed to PembinaValleyOnline News, the RM says snow levels have been dropping significantly, and field runoff started Monday afternoon.

Crews are scattered throughout the RM opening up culverts and trying to create a path for the water. The goal is to maintain a slow and steady release so bigger problems are not created downstream.

Residents can check for barricaded/closed roads by viewing the RM's online interactive map by clicking Public Interactive Map (rmofstanley.ca)

If residents are needing to speak to public works staff, they can email publicworks@rmofstanley.ca or call 204-325-4101. After-hours emergency numbers are 204-362-7335 or 204-362-8234.

As the creeks start to fill up, people are reminded to keep children away from fast-moving water.
