The Municipality of Boissevain-Morton declared a state of emergency Wednesday morning to help the council to deal with overland flooding.

The spring thaw is starting to impact roads in many parts of Southwestern Manitoba.

Some road conditions in Boissevain-Morton are quickly deteriorating.

The municipality reports that this week’s warm temperatures have resulted in a rapid melt and many rural roads are experiencing overland flooding and are unsafe.

For safety reasons motorists are being asked to avoid driving on roads with overland flooding. Municipal staff are monitoring the conditions and closing rural roads as needed.

Please use extreme caution when travelling on all rural roads, as conditions are rapidly changing.
