NICHOLS
Sharon Darlene Nichols (née: Hamilton) passed away at Chateau St. Michael’s in Moose Jaw, SK on Saturday April 8th, 2023. Sharon was born on October 13th, 1938 in Pense, Saskatchewan to the late J.G. and Olive Hamilton. She was the widow of the late James Nichols, whom she married August 18th, 1962. Jim passed away in 2011.
Sharon was schooled in Pense, SK and upon graduation from Pense High School, she attended the Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Moose Jaw, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in December 1960. Sharon’s lifelong profession was in Nursing and she worked as a Registered Nurse at numerous hospitals and long-term care centres for over 47 years. She worked at the Providence Hospital in Moose Jaw, Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina, St. Anthony’s Home in Moose Jaw, and finally at Providence Place in Moose Jaw. She was a very kind and caring nurse which was evidenced by the compassion that she showed her patients.
Upon her retirement in 2007, Sharon and Jim spent many years travelling to Texas with their trailer for the winter. One favourite spot for Sharon and Jim was South Padre Island, Texas.
Sharon and Jim enjoyed going for coffee as a favourite past-time and Sharon continued with that past-time after Jim’s passing. She also enjoyed daily outings with friends to McDonald’s, A&W, and Burger King just to name a few of the places visited.
Sharon lived in her own home until July 2021 when health issues necessitated her move to Chateau St. Michael’s. After regaining her strength, her social outings continued again on a regular basis. Sharon enjoyed her outings to different spots over the years in Saskatchewan, often with her son Ryan. This included trips to the Casino in Moose Jaw.
She was predeceased by her husband, parents, and her brothers Gordon Hamilton and Kenneth Hamilton. Sharon is survived by her daughter, Lynne (Scott) Hewitt and grandchildren Austin, Connor, and Jordan; son, Ryan (Tenille) Nichols and grandchildren Anesa and Rowyn. Sharon is also survived by her extended group of family and friends, including Bryce and Birdie Boan and family, Darlene and Gord Stewart, and many others too numerous to mention.
A thank you is extended from Sharon’s family to the staff at Chateau St. Michael’s for the excellent care our mom received during her stay there. It was evident that she had many friends at the Chateau. A special thank you to Princess for all the love and attention you gave Mom. Ice Cream was important to Mom during the last several years and we thank you for always making sure she had ice cream.
