Allan Theodore Vedress
It is with sad hearts that Allan’s family announces his passing on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Central Parkland Lodge in Lanigan, Saskatchewan. He was 77 years of age. Allan was born November 6, 1945, to Joseph and Marie (née Linz) Vedress in Humboldt, SK. He grew up in Watson, SK, and had many fond memories of those years. After graduating highschool, he apprenticed with the CPR Railway in Watson along with working short stints in Middle Lake, Pilger, and Crystal Springs. Upon completion of his journeyman certificate in carpentry, Allan was employed at Vargas Lumber in Muenster for 22 years. He finished his working career at St. Peter’s Abbey in Muenster as Head of Maintenance until his retirement in July 2018. Allan was a dedicated volunteer with the Muenster Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years. His responsibilities included five years as Fire Chief, two years on the Board of Directors of the Sask. Volunteer Firefighters’ Association, and five years as a Fire Service instructor. He was a member of the St Peter’s Branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation, and taught the Hunter Safety Course for many years. Allan was an avid learner, taking numerous courses, and receiving high marks in all. He acquired many certificates over the years, and he was very generous, sharing his skills and time with his family, friends, and his community. Photography was another great enjoyment for Allan. He photographed sporting events, weddings, and other family occasions, which is why he can't be found in many pictures. His many stunning photos of flora, wildlife, and scenery were often purchased by people that admired them so much. An outdoor enthusiast, Allan enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and canoe trips, especially with friends and family. He enjoyed sitting around the fire pit with his young nephews, burning marshmallows. Allan will be lovingly remembered by his siblings and their families: Caroline (Carl) Maloney and family, Sharon, Kevin, and Lisa; Robert Vedress and family, Holly, Penny, and Heather; Emil Vedress; Florian (Sandra) Vedress and family, Shawna, and Shecky; Annette (Greg) Moeller and family, Shari, Wendy, and Lorraine; Gerald (Kathy) Vedress and family, Derek, Garth, Kurt, and Shawn; Joanne (David) Moeller and family Tina and Scott; Brian (Rhonda) Vedress and family Mathew, Sarah, and Ashley; Elaine (Steve) Carthy and daughter Jennifer; Donald (Judy) and family Josh, Jasmine, and Lyndon; James (Sharon) Vedress and family, Nicole, Ryan, Amy, and Alicia; Arlene (Curtis) Figley and daughter Rachel; and his nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
