For the first time since 2017, the Dramatic Theatre Company is bringing back the Biblically-famous coat of many colours to a Winnipeg stage.

The Dramatic Theatre Company offers theatrical training and performance opportunities, and its upcoming show is sure to attract a large audience. It has been six years since the Dramatic Theatre Company scheduled Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Coat into its season.

The musical will be presented from April 27-30 at the Asper Centre for Theatre & Film (400 Colony St. - University of Winnipeg).

"The show differs from the actual story in some small ways," says Nathan Rogalsky who plays Joseph.

This iteration of Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic musical will be slightly different from the original and will feature live music from one of the actors.

Alana Penner, who portrays the narrator throughout the musical says that her role is to help carry the story along and also bring some fun into it by poking fun at the other characters, calling it "interactive and omnipresent."

"It's all a very nostalgic production for me," says Rogalsky. "I know it quite well and when I was thinking about trying to get the role of Joseph, I went online and I found some other productions and sort of watched through them for some inspiration and for a little bit of guidance on how I might want to do my Joseph."

The male lead also commends his brother for helping him find a unique way to portray Joseph.

Both Penner and Rogalsky agreed that throughout the time they spent rehearsing the musical, the entire cast has become a makeshift family of sorts with their "own quirks and own interpretations" as Penner says.

Tickets are $25 or save-on-admission with the $85 Go-Go-Joseph family 4-pack.
