The Alberta Peace Officer Long Service Recognition Medal was given to Maury Karch, Municipal Enforcement Coordinator for the City of Airdrie, during the April 17 Council meeting.
The Service Medal recognizes an officer exceeding twenty years of dedicated service in Alberta Municipal Enforcement.
“It is an absolute pleasure to celebrate Maury’s many years of dedicated service to our community,” said Lynn Mackenzie, Manager of Municipal Enforcement and RCMP Support Services in a city press release.
Karch has worked for the City of Airdrie for approximately 30 years.
The medal he received features the Alberta shield, sword, and justice scales, as well as a crimson ribbon signifying local law enforcement.
Karch began his career in 1988 working for the Rocky View No. 44 Municipal District in Calgary, Alberta. From 1993 to 2005, he was a special constable in the Protective Services division.
Then, in 2005, he began working for the City of Airdrie as a Community Peace Officer. In 2017, he was promoted to Municipal Enforcement Coordinator. Although you might not see him as frequently patrolling the neighbourhood, he nevertheless plays a crucial role in the organization, helping the Team Leader with proactive enforcement measures and conducting research on newly emerging issues.
The City of Airdrie wants to express its appreciation for Maury's ongoing commitment to the company. The City looks forward to his sustained leadership in the upcoming years.
