Elizabeth Yvonne Parks (nee Hrabok)
1959 – 2023
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Elizabeth (Lib/Liz) into the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on May 23rd, 2023.
Lib is predeceased by her Dad (Papa), Nick Hrabok.
Left to mourn Lib’s passing are her Mom, Yvonne Hrabok, her husband Steve Parks, daughter Lenis Soucie, grandchildren Laura (Mitch), Arianna and Jasper, brothers and sister Tony (Henriette), Rand, Jeff (Cherrill), Nickie (Guy). She will be lovingly remembered by her “seestor” in-law, Dee Forde, friends Terry, Sherma, Cynthia, Emerald and Ledenna, several nieces and nephews and many cousins.
Born on February 27th, 1959, in Thunder Bay, ON, Lib would eventually live in Winnipeg, Oak River, Edmonton, Minnedosa, then Portage la Prairie for over 30 years where she married Steve, and they shared close to 25 years of marriage.
Lib enjoyed life to its fullest and even more so when she became a born-again Christian over 25 years ago and focused on living her life in faith every day. She volunteered her time and gave of her heart unselfishly to several organizations and causes; Children’s Wish Foundation, Portage Community Christmas Dinners cooking and creating table centre pieces, decorating rooms for disadvantaged children, Golden Plains Baptist Church volunteer, distributing magnets with scripture messages throughout the community, to mention just a few. Lib loved to spend time with her family over great food and cooking, talks with her daughter, laughing and enjoying her grandchildren, her special long talks and visits with her Mom and especially our family get togethers. She also loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with Steve, Dee, her Mom, Nickie, friends, to visit her siblings and relatives.
Her work career included; Probation Services, Assessment Branch, Lighthouse Christian Academy, Learning Centre and Manitoba Government Employment Services.
Our daughter and sister touched the lives of so many family, friends, co-workers and will be dearly missed by so many.
Our heartfelt appreciation to the many nurses with special thanks to Shaundrea and Claudine, health care aid with special thanks to Tamara from PDGH, Home Care’s Hayley, Palliative nurse Krista, Dr’s from Cancer Care in Wpg, and Dr’s Proctor, Finney, Nostedt, and Hunter from Portage District General Hospital.
Obituary lovingly submitted by Lib’s sister.
