RCMP respond to fatal collision in Gimli

Manitoba RCMP are sharing heartbreaking news from Sunday morning.

According to the police report, on May 28, at 6:00 a.m., Gimli RCMP responded to a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 9, at the intersection of 9th Avenue, in the community of Sandy Hook.

Officers arrived on the scene and observed that a vehicle with two female occupants had been travelling southbound when it left the roadway, entered the ditch and rolled.

The 20-year-old driver from Winnipeg received minor physical injuries. The 23-year-old Winnipeg passenger was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased on the scene.

Gimli RCMP and an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continue to investigate.
