March 19, 1972 – April 17, 2021

A resident of Washagamis Bay First Nation passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

He was predeceased by his parents Sarah Edna Paypom and Carl Paypom Sr., his brother Felix Robin Kokopenace, his sister Shannon Paypom Coburn, his grandparents Marian Paypom (nee Fair), Allan Paypom, Nora Sneaky and Alex Kokopenace, his aunts Verna and Barbara, his uncles Russell Paypom, Donnelly Paypom and Gordon Sneaky, his niece Micheala Smith, cousins Leah, Yvonne and Rose Paypom, as well as his best friends Matthew Cherry and Leslie Martin.

He is survived by his siblings Carl-Allen Paypom, Susan Paypom (nee Bluebird), Adeline Paypom (nee Donovan), Linda Paypom (nee Kokopenace), cousin Ruth Allen Rosalind, nieces Sarah Smith, Peyton Smith, Dawn-lee and Stephana Landon, Sadie Paypom-Landon, Barb, Paradise and River Paypom, Ashley, Chasity, May and Tasha Loon, nephews Stewart and Steven Paypom, Adrian Kakeeway, Travis Smith, Gavin Kokopenace, Ryan Paypom-Pelly, Carl A.R. Paypom and Montgomery Smith, as well as uncle David Sneaky, Sandra Sneaky, Ivy Sneaky and Dorothy Assin, best friends Ralph Beardy and Levi Fox and many friends and relatives too numerous to mention.

He loved to listen to heavy metal music in his younger years, he also enjoyed weight lifting, fishing, walking and hiking the trails.  He was a very loving, kind, humble man who loved everyone.  He went out of his way to help and assist others and would check in and check up on everyone.

Wake service will begin on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Washagamis Bay Band Office.  Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Washagamis Bay Band Office with Ronald Mandamin-Indian leading the service.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, Dr. Kowal, the ER Team and ICU for all of your care and compassion, also many thanks to Jimmy Wayendopanickan for gathering the traditional supplies.

Please note that all attendees must follow the COVID protocol, social distancing, sanitization, and masks are mandatory and should be worn at all times, only 10 people are permitted entry.
