Environment Canada is preparing Portage la Prairie residents for the possibility of a severe thunderstorm.
As of 10:52 a.m. on Friday, conditions are developing which could cause dangerous thunderstorms that may produce damaging wind gusts, hail and torrential rain.
Environment Canada notes that Severe Thunderstorm Watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, or torrential rainfall.
Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
