With sadness the family of Bob McCreadie announce that he passed away on June 9, 2023.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by daughters Gwen (Greg), Jackie (Bob), and son Garry (Donna); grandchildren Steven (Rachel), Tim (Amber), Jason, Matthew, Bradley, Ryan and Kaitlyn; great grandchildren Kirsten, Karson and McKenzie. Also surviving are brothers Doug (Sandra), Jim (Sherry); brother-in law Hank Hancsicsak and numerous nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his wife Anne, grandson Christopher, parents Alexander and Phyllis McCreadie; father and mother in-law Harry and Ethel Perkins; in-laws Clarence, Mel, Lloyd, Nelson, Harvey and Donna.
Bob was born in Sydney and grew up there. He left school at 15 years of age and got work at Forsythe Coal Company and later with Maple Leaf Construction. He married Anne Perkins on September 3, 1960, at Lavenham. They lived in Treherne for about 1 ½ years, then moved to Lavenham and finally settled in Portage la Prairie. In 1975, he started work for the City of Portage and was the water works foreman when he retired after 18 years. He then worked for Bruce Towle.
After retirement he enjoyed going to music festivals, watching the grandchildren show cattle at the fairs, fishing with Freddy Roe, collecting coins, flower gardening and feeding and watching the birds.
Dad moved into the Manor and enjoyed going to the many activities. He had a special connection with many of the staff there. He loved to travel around town on his scooter in the summer.
The family would like to thank all the staff at the Lion's Prairie Manor for taking such good care of dad.
A private celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later date.
If friends so desire donations may be made in Bob's memory to Lions Prairie Manor or charity of one’s choice. To share memories and leave condolences, please visit www.ronaldmoffitmemorialservices.com
