If you're a fan of indie/alternative rock, you'll want to be at the main stage on Saturday of this year's Corn and Apple Festival.

Festival Executive Director, Tim Hodge, said this year's headliner keeps with the 90's vibe that was met with such an incredible response last year.

"Very, very excited to announce that Sloan is going to be headlining the Corn and Apple Festival this year on our main stage on Saturday, August 26th."

He added, organizers are doing something a bit different for the Saturday evening main stage show.

"We're doing sort of a double bill and we're actually having an Econoline Crush open for Sloan. So, if you're into that all rock, indie rock kind of 90s vibe, gosh, there's no better place to be than the Corn and Apple Festival on Saturday night."

He explained further as to why another band from the 90s.

"We really wanted to make a big splash with our entertainment last year, getting a band like Big Wreck and the response that we got was just so incredibly positive. It just spread so far, kind of on its own, we thought we gotta double down and keep that going. What can we do to make it even bigger? Sloan is also such a highly regarded, well known Canadian band, we thought obviously the best thing we can do is tuck in a double bill and get Econoline Crush in there on the same night as well."

In sticking with tradition, Friday's main stage entertainment will be country focused. This year, the headliner will be Canada's Premier Eagles Tribute Band - Epic Eagles.

Hodge also noted after it was cancelled last year, Manitoba's largest parade will make its return to the Morden Corn and Apple Festival this year.

"It's something we're very happy about, of course. Last year, pretty much the only thing we couldn't do was the parade. With the time constraints and the volunteer constraints. And gosh, if you need a bit of help with volunteers, one of the most effective things you can do is cancel something for a year, because we had after the festival, literally days after the festival last year, we had an outpouring of people who wanted to help make sure the parade was able to come back this year. We've got a couple of Co-Chairs that are running it. They're both phenomenal. They're doing an amazing job."

Hodge teased there are more vendor applications this year as well, promising some new food truck to add to the delicious selection and back by popular demand he concluded, "...the tastiest corn you'll ever get."

He advises people to keep their eyes on Corn and Apple website for more new information throughout the days leading up to the festival.
