Mortlach Saskatoon Berry Festival
With spring coming to a close, the small town of Mortlach is taking to the streets to celebrate the humble saskatoon berry. There will be a great variety of vendors and an abundance of activities, including the iconic pie eating contest, two live musical artists, and a magic show.
The festivities will begin at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast, and the day will end with a family movie night at 9 p.m.
W.W. Smith 110 Year Anniversary Celebration
Swift Current Market Square will be full of life with the celebration of the historic W.W. Smith Insurance Agency’s 110th anniversary. The celebration will include giveaways, cash prizes, and cake.
This event will start at 10 a.m., just across the street from the W.W. Smith Agency in Market Square.
Rory Allen Concert - Elvis Tribute Artist
Swift Current is receiving a visit from the king of rock and roll, or at least someone close. Rory Allen, an Elvis Presley tribute artist will have his concert at the Ecole Centennial School.
Tickets are being sold for $35 at Pharmasave, but they can also be purchased at the door. The venue will open at 1 p.m. and the concert will kick off at 2:00 p.m.
Picnic and Movie in the Football Field
Saturday night in Gull Lake will be a great time for the family to come together for a picnic and a big screen movie night. There will be games and concessions before The Super Mario Bros. Movie is to be shown on the Gull Lake School Football Field. All of the proceeds of the event will go to Gull Lake EMS.
The activities will begin at 5 p.m. followed by the hotdog picnic at 6 p.m. and the movie is set to play at dusk.
Soap Box Races
This Father’s Day is going to get a lot faster in Swift Current, as the 40th Annual Soap Box Races are set to commence at the top of the 400 block on Central Avenue Northeast. The young racers are ready to take to the street in their homemade and decorated cars.
The races will start at around 10 a.m. and will feature 21 racers from the ages of 7 to 15.
