Canada has finalized its 2023 national team roster that will compete in the upcoming Canada Cup International Softball Championship July 7-16 at Softball City in Surrey, British Columbia. Central to the team’s success will be two athletes from Alberta.

Carbon, Alberta resident Kristen Boyd will make her Canadian National Team debut at Softball City.

"The second baseman plays for New Mexico State University where she is pursuing a degree in Human Nutrition. On the diamond, her defensive game shines through, with only one error across 36 games this season. Prior to transferring to NMSU, she started her college career at Temple College."
 
Pitcher Morgan Rackel from Calgary is returning for another year with the national team. Rackel was an alternate for the bronze medal-winning Team Canada at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. In 2019, she won a silver medal at the Pan American Games. Rackel played for Austin Peay State University, Weatherford College and is a former member of the Calgary Kaizen.

The Canada Cup, now in its 30th year showcases some of the top female athletes from all across Canada and the world as well as more than 1,500 athletes at the national and club level. The biggest and best international fastpitch tournament in Canada includes five divisions: Women’s International, Futures Select (U19), Futures Gold (U19), Showcase Select (16U) and Showcase Gold (16U).
