Canada Day has arrived once again, and there are countless events happening throughout the Pembina Valley for you to enjoy.
In Winkler, celebrations will also include Culture Fest at the Parkland Hill. Activities begin at Noon with Culture Fest performances and activities, a Car Show, and Petting Zoo. There is also free public skating happening on the ICON arena from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Enjoy a $5.00 supper sponsored by Winkler Co-op. Festivities will close with music performances by Silas Presley, and the Stanley County Cutups.
An exciting day is in store at Lake Minnewasta in Morden with the annual Canada Day Beach Blast beginning at 1 p.m. There will be face painting, a sandcastle competition, treasure hunt and entertainment by Seven Pines, the North Wolf Ojibway Singers & Dancers, the Hoop & Hat – Comedy & Fire Show followed by the Bare Yogis and fireworks at dusk.
Or you can join in the fun in Altona with a community celebration, featuring live music, good food, and family fun! There will be Free Public Swimming at the Altona Aquatic Centre, Free Inflatables and Cotton Candy, a chalk drawing contest, petting zoo, free kiddie carnival and free watermelon and rollkuchen and Canada Day cupcakes. It all takes place at the Altona Park. Food trucks will also be set up from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The day finishes off with free entertainment at the park stage featuring Alterlimitz, BK & The Bad Habits, and the introduction of the 2023 Manitoba Sunflower Queen Quest participants followed by fireworks at dusk.
At Kings Park in Carman there will be free swimming, free cookies, and an overall fun day at the park!
Emerson Canada Day festivities include a pancake breakfast at Emerson Complex from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Later, a tribute to legends band performs from 3p.m. to 6 p.m. at Emerson Park Stage. The band will pay tribute to Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Buddy Holly, Elvis among others.
Canada Day celebrations in Roseisle begin with a waffle breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by a parade, flea market, children’s entertainment and activities, lawn tractor races, tractor pull and fireworks at 11 p.m.
In Elm Creek, festivities kick off at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast and continue with bike decorating and the town wide parade. A delicious BBQ lunch is being put on by the local 4H clubs. Afternoon events include a ball tournament, children's activities, entertainer, petting zoo, pony rides, bouncy castles, antique threshing, photobooth, dunk tank and more! The main attraction for the evening is a truck/tractor pull, and the night ends with an amazing firework display at 11 p.m.
And Clearwater is hosting its 72nd annual baseball & softball tournament including all age categories from U9 to Senior.
