The valedictorian for Winkler's Garden Valley Collegiate calls it a surreal feeling to have the milestone of finishing high school upon them.

187 GVC students make up the graduating class of 2023.

Jamie Reimer shares part of the message she has for her fellow grads.

"The main message I have in my speech is to live life to the fullest and have no regrets. The metaphor I use is a mirror, looking into it and the reflection you see of yourself. Are you happy with it? Are you proud of it? Just take hold of opportunities, do what you want to do, and have no regrets because there's nothing worse in life than having regrets. So I want to leave that message with the students."

Reimer says it's bittersweet knowing her day-to-day life at GVC is over.

"I had a lot of good times here at GVC and in middle school, and to say goodbye to all of that for once and for all, that's a bit sad. But I'm also happy to be moving on to something different in life."

Reimer says the GVC class of 2023 is like family, and are well-rounded group in terms of their talents.

"We're a very closely-knit class, there's not huge divisions between us. We all know each other, we're all friendly with each other and we're very hard working. I'd say we have an exceptionally talented class in sports and music."

Being with many of her fellow graduates most of her life, Reimer says it's difficult to wrap her mind around the fact she may not see some of them again.

Reimer also shared a "big thanks" to all the staff of the school. The teachers, EAs, custodians, and everyone else.

"They really make GVC who it is, besides the students. But they bring a really special atmosphere that's different, even from NPC. We are really like a family here and we have lots of fun together, and we have a lot of quirks and uniqueness about us. GVC owes it all to the staff, and us students owe it to them for teaching us, and equipping us for the future."

Reimer is enrolled at Providence University College and will begin the institution's four-year Biology/ Phycology degree this fall.
