Lorrence Adam Pfeil

Lorrence Pfeil died peacefully on Saturday, June 24, 2023. He was born August 6, 1925 in the Kildrum School District, south of Bruno where he also attended school. After completing his school he worked on the family farm until he and his brother took over after his father’s death. During this time he met Rose Monz, they were married on October 21, 1952. In the spring of 1959 they purchased their own farm where they operated a mixed farm and raised a family of 4. In 1994 they moved to Humboldt. Lorrence continued to help out on the family farm for a number of years. In his younger years he played softball in the Kildrum Softball Club in the late 1940 and 1950s. He continued to be involved with softball for a number of years, and actively involved in the Lucasville community with sports days and fall supper events. His family was always involved in these events and as a family we played in many curling bonspiels. We ate well with many home-cured meats and wines, his love of music always meant the house was filled with music, the size of his record collection continued to grow. And on occasion he could squeeze out a tune from his accordion. Lorrence was very involved in many organizations. He was an active member in the Knights of Columbus, was Grand Knight for two years and he is a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Honorary Life member. He led various fundraising activities when he joined the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #28 in Humboldt. He also was actively involved in the Bridge Club where he participated in the 55+ Games in Sydney, NS, where he and his partner brought home a gold medal. He met a number of great friends through the Legion and Bridge club, one being Hedy. Lorrence took great pride in his yard and garden. He enjoyed the company of great neighbours and was always generous with the pickings of the fruit trees.In the last few years of some trying health conditions, he loved the company of his family and his home was always the gathering place, a host to many family celebrations. He also celebrated a number of milestone birthdays in his back yard. Lorrence will be remembered by: son, Jerry (Dianne) Pfeil and family: Jeffrey (Amanda) Pfeil and daughter Emersyn, Jennifer (Howard Burnett) Pfeil and son Zander, Joanne (John) Baker and their children, Karli and Adam; son, Don (Steve Wilson) Pfeil; daughter, Sharen (Tim) Graf and daughter: Britney (Jay Brown) Graf; daughter, Jeanette (Brad) Carley and family: Samantha and Miranda; his sister Marie Bowman; and his sister-in-law Patricia Pfeil. He was predeceased by: his wife Rose (née Monz) Pfeil; and his granddaughter Kymberly Graf. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt,Sk, on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 1:30 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Colin Roy and Co-Celebrated by Fr. Lawrence DeMong and Fr. Emile April. Others taking part were: Jeff Pfeil, cross bearer; Joanne Baker and Samantha Carley, scripture readers; Britney Graf, intentions; Jennifer Pfeil and Miranda Carley, gift bearers; Jerry Pfeil and Jeanette Carley, eulogists; and Sharen Graf, urn bearer. Music ministry was provided by members of the St. Augustine Parish Choir. An Honor Guard was formed by The St. Augustine Knights of Columbus and The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 28. Interment followed at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Cemetery, Humboldt. Afterwards, a memorial luncheon held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #28, Humboldt.
