In its efforts to raise $ 10 million, the Boundary Trails Health Centre Foundation is switching its focus by reaching out to the general public.

Foundation Chair Ben Friesen says the committee has had a very good run, meeting with businesses and individuals around the region. Over $ 8 million has been raised so far for the committee's fundraising commitment towards the $100-million hospital expansion.

Although they would like to meet face-to-face with the public, Friesen says that's not feasible with 60,000-plus people.

"We just really want to try to make it as easy as we can with the flyers that are mailed out," said Friesen. "There's a form you can mail back in. There's, of course, a scanning device (QR code) on there and just giving everybody an opportunity. We won't be coming to call on your doors. This is the one chance where we're going to appeal to the general public for their help on this fantastic expansion project."

"I think that people are really getting more excited about it too, as they see more of the pictures," added Friesen. "We sent out a flyer this last week and we had a lot of people calling in and telling us about how they were glad to see this information. They had heard little bits and pieces about it, but now they could actually see that this is really what's going to happen, and this is going to affect all of us."

Friesen added this expansion will not only be a great thing for the region for the next 10 years, but it is building for the future.
