The inaugural FlapJACK Friday had folks in a frenzy in downtown Swift Current.
J & S Tire teamed up with Swift Current Motorcycle Ride for Dad this morning for a pancake breakfast fundraiser, with all proceeds going towards prostate cancer research.
Tony Bukmeier, owner of the tire shop, said the local branch of the foundation reached out to them.
"We thought, well, what the heck?" he said. "It's stampede weekend and we'll have another breakfast get the people around to have some fun, chill out, and start the weekend. And the way these Ride for Dad folks make those pancakes, you have to put a cover on them because they're so light they'll float away."
He also mentioned that the event's name gives a little nod to their co-founder Jack Payne.
"He'd been around for a long, long time and we're sorry that he's not with us anymore, but it's a little bit of a play on words for him," he said. "He was a wonderful man."
Mary-Lou Gates, co-chair of the Swift Current Motorcycle Ride for Dad, was helping serve up some plates throughout the morning.
"We're just so appreciative of it," Gates said. "We're always looking for ways to fundraise. This is a great way to be out and the weather's beautiful and we couldn't ask for anything more. And also, Tony is also one of our sponsors, so that is also a really big plus. We like to give back a little bit if we can, as well."
