The Okotoks Dawgs showcased their offensive prowess in a lopsided victory over the Weyburn Beavers on Sunday afternoon. The 15-1 win for the West Division-leading Dawgs came just one day after the Beavers had topped Okotoks 4-2.
The Dawgs wasted no time asserting their dominance, scoring a run in each of the first and third innings. However, it was the explosive sixth inning that truly broke the game open. The Dawgs unleashed an offensive barrage, scoring seven runs to put the game out of reach for the Beavers. The visitors added two more runs in the seventh inning and four in the ninth to solidify their commanding victory.
The Beavers struggled to find their rhythm offensively throughout the game. Third baseman Ryan Dauphinee provided their lone run with an RBI single in the sixth inning. Starting pitcher Owen McConnell took the loss for Weyburn, surrendering seven runs on five hits over 5 2/3 innings.
The Beavers are off Monday, before returning to action Tuesday. They will travel to Regina to play the Red Sox, before coming home Wednesday to host Regina.
