The Military Police National Motorcycle Relay will rock and roll through Portage la Prairie Tuesday afternoon to raise funds for blind children.

The relay commences in Victoria, British Columbia, for an expedition through the Rockies, Prairies, Central and Eastern provinces, and Atlantic Canada, covering over 10 000 kilometres coast-to-coast, wrapping up in St. John's, Newfoundland.

Portage Legion Branch #65 will host the riders for a lunch and donation ceremony around 1:30 p.m.

Legion President, Lynne Payette, says they will welcome the riders with open arms.

"It would be great if people could actually drop in and make a donation to them," she continues. "We are going to be making a donation to them. But it would be great if other people could come out and maybe donate a few dollars."

Payette explains that the Legion is happy to support the mission that the Military Police are undertaking.

"I'm excited to go down and actually meet these guys and see what they can tell us about their journey. They've had some pretty bad weather, I'm sure, along the way."

Founded in 1957, Military Police and other Canadian Armed Forces members volunteer to operate the Military Police Fund for Blind Children.
