The Weyburn Beavers, after splitting a weekend series with the Okotoks Dawgs, were in Regina Tuesday night. The Beavers would come out swinging, building off an early lead to pick up a 7-5 victory.

Weyburn took the lead in the first inning with two quick runs. Center fielder Jared Hall Hall and designated hitter Ryan Dauphinee set the tone early with key hits to drive in runs. Despite facing a strong Regina Red Sox pitching staff, the Beavers managed to consistently put runners on base throughout the game.

Ryan Muizelaar went 2-for-5 at the plate with a double, but also stole three bases in the game, putting his team-leading total to 17. That total is good for second in the league as well. Brett Potter added two RBIs himself, with Ryan McCarthy, Triston Madison and Robert Gurney also driving in runs in the game.

On the defensive side, the Beavers' pitching staff limited the Red Sox to just four hits. Starting pitcher Cole McGregor delivered a solid performance, allowing only one hit and one run over 5 2/3 innings. He demonstrated excellent control, striking out four batters while walking four. Relief pitcher Jamin Smith, as well as Angel Rios and Jacob Clark, also played their part in securing the victory.

Regina Red Sox struggled to find their rhythm offensively. Shortstop Justin Simard was the standout performer, going 2-for-5 at the plate. Christos Stefanos, pinch-hitting for Easton Romero in the bottom of the 9th, made the game look closer than it was as he drove in three runs with a double before Clark finished the game by striking out Jackson Alaniz on three straight pitches.

The Beavers will look to carry the momentum with them Wednesday night as they host the Red Sox at Tom Laing Park. The game will be the last home game until July 23rd for the Beavers, as they travel to Medicine Hat ahead of the All-Star Game in Okotoks, then make their second Alberta road swing the following week.
