Minot is set to host the North Dakota State Fair later this month, which is always a popular draw for Canadians, especially those in southeast Saskatchewan due to its proximity.
Renae Korslien, the manager of the North Dakota State Fair, said organizers are expecting a good contingent of Canadians again this year.
"We absolutely do, and with this lineup, we have in the grandstand and the other new things we have on the stages, I believe we'll make them very happy...we'll send them back (to Canada) happy," Korslien said. "We're very thankful for Estevan, and even all the way over and up into Brandon and that area too...we have a lot of attendees."
Korslien said they usually attract on average about 320,000 people every year.
"Bigger isn't always better but I expect that we'll be definitely into the 320's unless weather messes us up," she said.
The fair is in Minot every year and started in 1965.
Korslien also touched on one new feature that the fair will have this year.
"There's a 35,000-gallon pool of water in a glass pool that they do trapeze acts through the water and into it and on top of it," she said. "First time that's ever been here...they call it the 'Wow Water Circus."
Finally, Korslien warned of ticket scams.
"The very best way (to get tickets) is to go to our website, but make sure you're on our website," Korslien said. "It will show E-Ticks right on there and that's who our ticket company is. Make sure you know the prices of our tickets and don't pay anything more than that price, because there are a lot of scams out there."
The fair runs July 21-29.
