Municipalities in southern Manitoba continue to work hard to improve their communities and that includes the Municipality of North Norfolk.

Reeve Ed Heppner says preparation is key.

"Once we get our planning together, we do have a number of plans," says Heppner. "One, of course, is some street paving and repairs in the MacGregor area and the MacGregor streets. In the municipality, we're continuing with the fiber optic Internet installation with RFNow."

He notes they have been putting money away into reserves to ensure the projects can be done.

"We relocated the Austin Fire Department Hall to the new Fire Hall. It's a real nice new building," says Heppner. "We're also working on water diversion and flood control projects around MacGregor and Austin. Another one, is the sidewalk reconstruction on Hampton St. in MacGregor. Those are a few of the projects that we're working on."

He says regular road repair is always a focus as nobody in the community likes potholes.
